In July 2026, TLWS presented The Invention of Clouds at Kunstkraftwerk in Leipzig, Germany.
The immersive room production set out to create a dramatic and dynamic use of light inspired by viewing, drawing, and capturing clouds in all their forms. The work references the art of Turner and Constable, as well as the stories of 19th-century weather pioneers such as FitzRoy, Luke Howard, and Goethe. It recalls a time when the atmosphere was mysterious, studied up close, and existing long before the word "forecast" was even invented.
Instead of falling into typical immersive room clichés, TLWS created emotion, flow, and drama through contemporary digital animation.
TLWS combined charcoal drawings and watercolour paintings with TouchDesigner at the core to mesh and weld the elements together, in the hope of encouraging the viewer to spend a little longer looking at the clouds in the future.
