Project Breakdown

Creative Production · Barnsley Council · Seam Digital Campus March 2026

TLWS led the creative production and audio-reactive lighting content for a light and sound experience for the Yorkshire Roses · a new public sculpture installation in Barnsley town centre · working in collaboration with Artin Light as part of the Seam Digital Campus project.

The project began with a community engagement installation at Barnsley Bright Nights in November 2025, where something unexpected emerged · the idea that these new sculptures could carry the voice of the town. From there, we collected stories and voices from across Barnsley, creating characters for each rose · capturing the accent, the humour and the warmth of the place.

Jamie House worked alongside TLWS as artist throughout, contributing original video footage and bringing a distinctive creative style to every facet of the project · transforming what could have been generic LED presets into something hypnotic, dreamy and genuinely immersive.

Matthew Williams from Hazard Media created a spatially immersive soundscape with real depth and movement, giving us the ideal foundation to build audio-reactive lighting content on top of.

TLWS custom-built the show control software · a real-time generative system driving animation, content and light across the sculptures in evolving patterns.
